Public Health and Dermatology- From Policy to Pox with Dr. Boris Lushniak

In this Presentation Dr. Boris D. Lushniak discusses the core public health functions: assessment and monitoring of the health of communities and populations at risk, the formulation of public policies, and to assure that all populations have access to appropriate and cost-effective care.  Keeping these functions relavent throughout his talk, Dr. Lushniak discusses various skin cancers and conditions. He then concludes his presentation explaining how dermatology fits into the public health model.

Boris D. Lushniak, M.D., M.P.H.

Dr. Lushniak is a retired United States Public Health Service Commissioned Corps rear admiral who served as the acting Surgeon General of the United States, from 2013 to 2014. He previously served as the Deputy Surgeon General from 2010 to 2013 and from 2014 to 2015 when Vivek Murthy assumed office as Surgeon General. He retired from the Public Health Service on December 8, 2015 after over 27 years of service and appointed dean of the University of Maryland, College Park School of Public Health in January 2017.
