In this presentation, Dr. Mitchell discusses discharge-related risks, appropriateness for discharge, and elements of the discharge process. Dr. Mitchell emphasizes that dangerous events happen commonly, involving medications, test results, and poor communication and/or follow-ups. However, with a clear understanding for the process, these are mostly preventable.

CHARLENE MITCHELL, M.D., MSPH, FACP
Dr. Mitchell is an Associate Professor of the University of Louisville with a dual appointment in internal Medicine and Pediatrics. She trained at University of Illinois and University of Louisville. She is one of the teaching faculty for the internal medicine inpatient service at University of Louisville Hospital. Dr. Mitchell's faculty profile can be found here.
